Products & Services : Contactless Cards
Contactless or
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is evolving as a major technology enabler for both the private and public sectors.
Payment transaction companies are looking to RFID contactless technology to offer faster transaction times at the point of sale. The latest incarnation of prepaid debit cards, contactless card schemes will enable users to purchase low value everyday items such as a newspaper by simply passing the pre-loaded card over a payment reader. Removing the need to sign or key in a PIN for trivial amounts, the combination of contactless RFID and pre-authorised debit technology speeds up the process considerably.
Radio frequency or contactless cards have many applications outside of the retail supply chain including some familiar ones such as mass transit passes (such as the London Transport Oyster card) and security access cards for controlling entry into buildings or events.
RFID tagging can also track people or assets as they move from the point of manufacture through to the retail point of sale. This technology can be adapted to track high profile delegates as they move through keynote conferences and events. For example, ID Data provided a high security RFID solution for the United Nations WSIS conference in Tunis which enabled 19,000 high profile delegates to be tracked for the duration of the event.
Through its partnerships with Hitachi, Toshiba, Toppan and STMicroelectronics, ID Data is uniquely placed to offer a complete end-to-end RFID and contactless card solutions. For more information contact us today.
