UK local councils are looking into the various technology advances to assist them with improving and automating their services to the community. Although general requirements remain the same, each council will have very different needs. Smart cards can help authorities ensure that the right people receive the right benefits. Applications could also include an electronic purse for payment of school meals, access to leisure facilities, payment for parking services and travel cards. Historically these services may have used their own discrete card schemes but smart card technology allows local authorities to issue one card programmed to provide access to the services each individual is entitled to.

Most recently, we’ve delivered the UK’s first local authority multi application smart card RFID solution which enables people to use the same card as their library card, leisure centre card and bus pass.
